Hi, my name is Kylene, and I am currently doing a course with PAT, which is Professional Accountancy Training in Ireland. It means a lot to me to be doing this course because I have always wanted to do something within the accounting field. Previously, I was studying internal auditing. This course will enable me to progress further within the accounting field, therefore helping me to take a step towards meeting my goals and my dreams. Frequently Asked Questions

I never worked in Ireland where would I get a reference when offered a job?

We would recommend you contact a previous employer from your home country if you have one. Very often, our employers will accept a reference from an educational body or state authority. We can discuss your individual reference requirements during our initial conversation.

Who is going to send me a job offer?

You will find a job you wish to apply for and we will support the application process. If you are shortlisted for an interview, we will contact you to make arrangements. We will also contact you if your application was not successful.

Where is your office located?

We are currently working remotely and are head office is in Cork. However, we have recruiters in Dublin and Galway also.

Could you  help me  build my CV?

Absolutely! This we want to prepare you to the fullest. We can also help with your interview skills.

Is there any age limit to the jobs on offer? Will it be more difficult for me to find work, because of my age?

There is no age limit to working in Ireland and employers are not to discriminate on employability based on your age.

Can I get a transfer if I find a job in another county?

You will need to contact IPAS by email and request a transfer, but there is no guarantee that you will get it.

If I find work, can I move out of Direct Provision? 

Yes you can, but it is best to wait until the probation period is over and do remember you will be responsible to pay for everything yourself. In the event that you should lose your job you will have to apply for a place in DP again through IPAS and you may get a place in a very different location.

There is a delay in the renewal of my work permit. Can I continue to work?

Provided nothing has changed in your situation, please contact the Access to Work Department (by email) and ask about the delay, if this is due to COVID 19, delays are common, but should not take too long)

Do I have to pay taxes? 

Yes you do. You need to register with revenue.ie.

If I lose my job, (due to Covid-19 or not)  will I be entitled to benefits (Covid-19 payment and/or jobs seekers benefit)?

If I lose my job due to the pandemic, will I be entitled to COVID 19 payment as an asylum seeker?
If the job loss is due to COVID19 circumstances, you will be entitled to this payment. Your employer should fill out the paperwork.

If I lose my job, but not due to the pandemic, am I entitled to job seekers benefit?
If you live in Direct Provision, you will not be entitled to job seekers benefit or allowance, you will return to receiving 38 € weekly.
